Hello Andrew!

 

This cross was worn by troops of the "Grenzschutz Ost" (Border protection East)

There were different troops, including troops of the XVII.AK , including 35.Inf.Div. (including Gouvernement Thorn)

The volunteers of that "35. Freiwilligen-Division Thorn" was set-up by Inf.Rgt.141 too (what we see on his shoulder boards).

 

Hiller was "Hiller von Gaertringen", later Reichswehr-Brigade 41 (From the regiments 59, 152, 18, 148, Dragoons 10 and field artillery 35 and 79)
