The MG badge is a "MG-Scharfschützen-Abzeichen" (MG-marksmanship-badge).

The collar badge stands for the "Freiwilliges Landesjägerkorps Maercker" and the L stand for the III.Abteilung (3rd detachment)

It was raised Dec.13, 1918 in Paderborn from units of the 214.Inf.Div. (Inf.Rgt.50, 358 and 363). Engaged in battles in Berlin, Weimar and Braunschweig.

The 3rd detachment belonged to the 1. Brigade (Reitzenstein), which became later (june 1919) Reichswehr-Inf.Rgt.31
